Section IV is home to some of the best travel softball programs in
New York. Spring sports is only the beginning of the softball season for many of our best athletes. Check the images and websites below for more information about these travel teams!
Tryout information below is for the 2023-2024 season:
As the summer season comes to a close we are now looking forward to the fall season. We will be moving to 3 teams for the fall with 8u,12u and a 16u team. Private tryouts for 12u and 16u and open tryouts for our new group the 8u team. Fill out form below if you would like to tryout for any of our teams and we will contact you with tryout dates etc.
16u, 14u, and 10u Softball tryouts!
14u will be holding tryouts Wednesday, August 2nd and Thursday, August 3rd.
16u and 10u - Thursday, August 3rd
Location for all will be at Virginia Ave fields off of Harry L Dr.
Sign in start at 5:15. Tryouts start at 6:00p.

Thursday August 10 5:30-8:00pm
Saturday August 12 10:00am-12:00
Monday August 14 5:30-8:00pm
All tryouts will be at Riverfront Park Sayre Pa.
If you would like to try out for Storm but can’t make these dates please message us for a personal tryout. All tryouts will be done and teams announced by Friday August 19 no exceptions!!
Our very competitive 14u team will be moving to 16u next year and is looking to add talent to the roster. The 16u team will be adding showcase tournaments as well as entering qualifiers for nationals tournaments.
There has been significant interest in establishing a younger 14u team for next year with several already committed. Current coach John Colunio
We are also starting a 12u team with coaches Savannah Garndner and MaKaylah Leljedal. Savannah is the JH head coach and MaKaylah is the varsity head coach at Northeast Bradford high school. MaKaylah played her college ball at Lock Haven University. 12u will play mostly local tournaments.
Previous Storm players currently playing at the college level are always popping in to help coach and mentor the younger girls. The current 14u team has 3 former Storm players regularly helping and coaching the team.

It's that time of year! FURY Fastpitch tryouts are scheduled. Please pre-register using the following links:
Tryouts for this team, a 12u travel team, will be held at the Holding Point, field 5, on Wednesday, 7/26/2023, at 6:00pm.
Two former softball standouts are returning back to the softball fields as coaches for the NY Lady Rebel 12u team. The coaches are Kelly (D’Angelo) Bednarski and Stephanie Narde. The Lady Rebels are lucky to have these non-parent coaches be part of the program, and the development of young softball players in the area.
Kelly attended Elmira Southside High School where she was a 3-sport standout athlete. She played 6 seasons of softball, where as a pitcher she threw two perfect games and three no hitters, striking out 371 batters during her senior season with an ERA of 0.37. She then went on to play collegiately at American International College where she was named Northeast-10 pitcher of the year and first team All-Conference. She was also an All-American selection, leading the nation in strikeouts. At IAC she set single season records in strikeouts (229), shutouts (15), and ERA (0.47). Kelly also coached the varsity softball team at SHS, prior to the high schools merging.
Stephanie attended Horseheads High School, who was a Section IV all-conference selection, as well as an all-division selection in multiple years. Stephanie played shortstop at D1, St Bonaventure, for 4 years. Stephanie is a certified functional strength coach at NYSF, and has experience training athletes and individuals of all ages.
We will now be filling 2 12U and a 10U team for the 2024 season!
Southern Tier Thunder 12u will be hosting try outs for the 2023-24 season on the following days:
Monday: July 31, 2023, 6-7:30 general try out and 7:30-8 for pitchers and catchers
Tuesday: August 1, 2023, 6-7:30 general try out and 7:30-8 for pitchers and catchers
